Plot:Cook and Effy are in self-imposed exile from the gang; they’ve gone to stay with Cook’s father. Effy is running away from everything she’s ever known. Unfortunately, Cook is slowly falling out of lust, and in love. Back in Bristol, JJ tries to snap Freddie out of his depressed stupour; he’s down about the loss of both his best mate and the girl he loves.
Plot:Katie refuses to leave the house, so Emily disguises herself as her sister and sits her exam. In the corridor, Naomi informs Emily that she will be spending the summer alone in Cyprus. When Emily tells Naomi that she will miss her, Naomi gives in and kisses Emily in the middle of the school hall.
Plot:Effy is at a low ebb; she has lost her Queen Bee status to Katie, and life at home is not fun with a depressed misandric mother. To cap it all, Cook is no longer the draw he was and she is unsure of her feelings for him. Katie makes the most of every opportunity to rub in the fact that she is more popular and that Freddie is her man, and Effy is to keep her hands off.
Plot:JJ visits his psychiatrist after feeling ‘lost and confused’ about his life and friends. He is given lots of medical drugs to calm his Aspergers. He finds that Emily goes to the same clinic as him. The two spend some time together; Emily calms JJ down and admits to him that she is a lesbian. She offers advice to help him sort out his numerous issues.
Plot:Naomi thinks she has the world worked out, and puts people into pigeonholes: her hippy mum, the clingy Emily, Cook’s insulting misogyny; and her politics teacher Kieron’s flattery. After encouragement, she reluctantly enters the presidential race against Cook to become the college’s president.
Watch Skins S3 E5 – Freddie Plot:Freddie’s the black sheep of his family, and is seen as a waste of space. His big sister Karen has ambition – she has reached the final of a TV talent show to find a new member of fictional girl group Da Sexxbombz. Freddie despises her blind lust for celebrity, but is emotionally blackmailed into sticking to the story she and their Dad, Leo are spinning about their supposed deceased mother, all to look good in front of the cameras, and thereby increase her chances of success. He cringes at the whole thing. But his Dad is increasingly favouring Karen over Freddie, up to the point of clearing out Freddie’s shed and turning it into Karen’s studio. If this was not bad enough, living in the shadow of the increasingly reckless Cook is becoming too much to bear. When Effy turns up at his shed, Freddie does not know what to do with himself. There is a connection between them, there always has been, but this is shattered when Cook and JJ arrive. Cook proceeds to tell Effy if she is not going to have sex with him she can leave the shed and all Freddie can do is stand by and watch. He feels torn between his family, his friends, and his heart, and the isolation is overwhelming. Karen loses the show finale by fifteen votes; Freddie even turning up to support her. Cook and JJ visits the McClair house, Cook admits he got the entire pub to vote against Karen as a revenge plan as she “stole the shed”. Freddie physical lashes out at Cook, accusing him of being selfish, yet Cook does not react, instead he kisses Freddie in an outpouring of emotion before becoming angered and leaves, smashing the family photo on his exit. JJ is called to follow which he does so obediently. Later, Freddie visits Effy, as she is the only one he can turn too, but she is revealed with Cook in her bedroom window and Freddie walks away in anger.
Plot: Thomas arrives alone in the UK from the Congo. His family are due to join him in a few days, and he has to find somewhere for them to live. He finds an abandoned flat in an council estate, but it is revealed that local gangster Johnny White unofficially owns the local flats, thus he is Thomas’ new landlord.
Plot:Effy’s dad finds out about his wife’s affair, reacts angrily and leaves the family; Effy becomes depressed, but refuses to display her emotion, only to Pandora. With the first and only boy Pandora’s ever fancied having been deported, Pandora is desperate for some fun and decides to have a pajama party, which is strictly a girls only event. Unknown to Pandora, Katie adds MDMA to the cake mixture, which take the party to another level.
Plot:The episode is based around the first day at Roundview College for eight characters. JJ, Cook and Freddie all become smitten by Effy, who sets the trio a challenge: whoever breaks all of the college rules first gets to “know her better”.
Plot:On Cook’s 17th birthday, his mates gather at his uncle’s pub for a party that turns out to be underwhelming. They are about to leave when Freddie’s sister Karen calls Freddie and tells him about her best friend Kayleigh’s engagement party, and if they have any drugs. The gang then set off to gate-crash the party. Cook’s antics get the attention of Kayleigh’s father, notorious gangster Johnny White. The night soon degenerates into a massive brawl when Cook’s attention grabbing karaoke sparks Johnny to attack Cook and take him away through jealousy. Cook is threatened because of his antics and is thrown off a balcony, landing on food that covers nearby gangsters. This prompts a battle between the two warring families. The gang barely manage to escape, but split up after Cook tries to come onto the girls but to no avail. Freddie tells Cook he is tired of looking after him and leaves Cook and JJ to go to a local brothel, where JJ refuses to go further than kissing with his partner, yet he is still charged anyway. Meanwhile Cook overhears Johnny White in the next room. He plans to blackmail him, and the gangster antagonizes him until JJ has to forcibly restrain Cook from beating him. Cook realises what he’s done when Johnny tells him: “The next time I see you…you’re dead.” He leaves and ends up outside Freddie’s house at six in the morning, and the two share an intense heart-to-heart about their friendship, while Freddie reluctantly agrees to look after him again.
